Dr. Phil, For the first time, I am writing someone I have never met to thank him for changing my life. Your series “Living by Design” has helped me realize that at 45-years-old it’s not too late to reach for my dreams. I could go on and on about the inventory I’ve taken in my life and the effectiveness of the “autopsy,” but I will jump to the meat of the story. My dream has always been to write a novel. I have so many ideas swirling in my head, but who do I think I am writing a book? I’m not a writer, I’m a speech therapist, for crying out loud! Using the “Seven Core Characteristics of a Champion,” I squashed those feelings of fear, inadequacy, and intimidation and sat in front of a blank Word document to start the novel I’ve been dreaming about for years.. Thanks to “Living By Design, 10 – Never Too Late,” today I made a realistic word count goal. By meeting my goal, I will have a 100,000-word manuscript as a Christmas present to myself. Maybe my book will suck. It might never get published. But I don’t want to look back on my life someday and wonder, “What if…” I would rather try and fail than to never try at all. I sound a little like you now, don’t I, Dr. Phil? I cannot thank you enough for your inspiration, encouragement, and prompting to design my best life. Sincerely, Audrey Marshall
